My name is Amy, and I am not the typical highschooler.
Now, I don't mean this in an egotistical way. I just mean that my concerns run far deeper than the average highschooler, but more on that later.
I'd like to personally welcome you to my blog where I will share my ideas and insights, as well as journal about my everyday life.
First off, I'll tell you a little about myself.
My immediate family is supportive, caring, and we like to laugh a lot.
I play girls' lacrosse and started this sport freshman year.
Before joining lacrosse, I played soccer for nearly 13 years.
Senate is not a hobby or club for me, its a lifestyle. I try to incorporate the leadership skills I have gained from being a part of senate into my everyday life.
My drawing skills are not great, although I enjoy drawing lighthouses.
Photography is one of my passions.
Getting caught up in a good book is my favorite thing to do on a rainy day or on the beach :)
I say I'm sorry far too often.
I will never break a promise or lose your trust.
With that said and now that you know who I am, maybe my first entry will mean a little more to you.
Reason for the Rain
Have you ever realized that people tend to complain about the negative aspects of life far more than relishing in the good? Well, this is a shame, because we should not be complaining about the bad and, instead, we should celebrate the good.
Without negativity there would be no positivity, just as without rain, the sunshine would go unnoticed and uncelebrated. It is in those times that it is "rainy" that we learn life lessons that will carry us through the good times and the bad. It makes us stronger human beings. These life lessons allow us to pass these lessons on to family, friends, and younger generations.
Imagine a baby born into a life consisting of only perfect sunny days. This baby would never learn what its like to experience a little rain or a little imperfection. There would be nothing to learn and nothing to gain.
I challenge you to, on those days where life seems so impossible, to remember that you are becoming a better, stronger person. And that because of this misfortune, you will be able to help another.
